Charlotte Bydler was awarded a Ph.D in Art History in 2004, for the thesis The global art world, Inc. On the globalization of contemporary art. She has since been involved in numerous research projects including the 2007 initiated project Art (without) spaces: Internet art in Germany, Lithuania and Sweden, in collaboration with the Baltic Sea Foundation.

She has contributed to several publications including:

James Elkins (ed.) Is Art History Global? (London, 2007) and Tirdad Zolghadr (ed.) Ethnic Marketing, cat. (Tehran, 2006).
